The DFW Connector project is a $1.02 billion, 8-mile reconstruction and improvement of four highways, two interchanges, and five bridges. Its purpose is to reduce congestion, accidents, and air pollution.
Transtec provided optimized pavement designs and materials and mix designs for mainlanes, frontage roads, and temporary roads. Transtec’s designs for the DFW Connector included asphalt, concrete and reinforced concrete pavements. In working with the contractor, Transtec was able to optimize the concrete mix design and significantly reduce the construction cost by $500,000.
